After the past year of lockdown, people are excited to be able to return to a sense of normalcy and enjoy the 4th of July. Here are some simple tips to keep you and your loved ones safe and having fun.

1. Follow Covid-19 safety protocols.

For those who have not yet been vaccinated, stand at least 6 feet apart from anyone who does not live in the same house as you.

2. Wash your hands regularly.

Washing your hands regularly can reduce the spread of germs. Even if everyone is vaccinated, we must continue to practice great hygiene.

3. If someone is feeling sick, it’s best for them to stay home.

We understand that you have waited an entire year to celebrate this holiday, however you must be mindful of the health and well-being of those around you. There will be many more holidays and opportunities to spend with your loved ones, without having to put their health at risk.

4. Avoid shared foods.

Offer your guests individually wrapped food plates and individual cans or bottles for your beverages.

5. Keep your warm food warm and your cold foods cold.

Cooked foods should be kept above 140 degrees, while cold foods should stay below 40 degrees. This will stop the food from spoiling. Be sure to package your leftovers as soon as you can.

6. Clean and disinfect surface areas regularly.

Similar to washing your hands, cleaning and disinfecting surface areas will kill germs and reduce the spread of viruses.

7. Practice firework safety.

While fireworks are amazing, they are also very dangerous. Be sure to use fireworks away from any buildings, including your house. Don’t use fireworks on dry grass. Be aware of those around you, don’t let others get close while lighting fireworks.
